Camera Club
Camera Club is currently only open to those with active Art Matters residencies.
Camera Club is an opportunity for Art Matters artists who have an interest in photography to meet and engage in discussion about anything relating to the art of photography.
We aim for meet-ups to take place 2-3 times each term.
A Brief History
Angus and Mark ran the ‘Introduction to Film Photography’ course at Art Matters in February 2022. Participants borrowed a 35mm film camera and with a little instruction and some hope, set out into the world as photographers to take 36 pictures on film of anything that interested them. We processed these films together, printed from the negatives and by some small miracle, and the magic oof light and lens, created beautiful photographs.
The courses continued as did interest in the medium and in 2023 the Camera Club formed. Whereas traditional ‘Camera Clubs’ focus on technical competences and equipment, the new Art Matters Camera Club emphasis is to share and celebrate our photographs and ideas. Beyond judgement, these photographs help us to tell our stories.
